Dr. Janelle Johnson Photo

Janelle M. Johnson, PhD

Workforce Development, Equity

Dr. Janelle M. Johnson is the VP of Equitable Learning and Professional Development at Intellegi. Dr. Johnson is an Associate Professor of STEM Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver and co-editor of STEM21: Equity in Teaching and Learning to Meet Global Challenges of Standards, Engagement, and Transformation (2018). Her primary areas of focus involve addressing disparities and improving learning outcomes for participants in both formal and informal STEM settings.

Dr. Johnson works with teachers, administrators, families, and organizations of local, national, and international scope. Dr Johnson is a leading consultant for the Increasing Marginalized Girls Access to STEM initiative of the National Girls Collaborative in partnership with the Georgetown Center on Poverty and Inequality, the White House Domestic Policy Council and Council on Women and Girls, and the U.S. Department of Education. She taught Math and Science to multilingual students in Guatemala and in Arizona.

Dr. Johnson is a leading consultant for the Increasing Marginalized Girls Access to STEM initiative of the National Girls Collaborative in partnership with the Georgetown Center on Poverty and Inequality, the White House Domestic Policy Council and Council on Women and Girls, and the U.S. Department of Education.

Her Master’s and PhD are from the department of Teaching, Learning & Sociocultural Studies at the University of Arizona.

Esther Celestin-Wang, MAEd, ESOL, PMP

Language Skills, Communication and Writing

For nearly a decade, Esther Celestin served as an enthusiastic classroom teacher. She spent 3 years teaching various levels in China from high school seniors to government officials before repatriating to the US to continue teaching middle school students in Texas and Georgia. She specializes in teaching language skills, communication and writing. As a teacher, Esther’s main objective was to see growth in comprehension for her students whether it be in classroom content or every day life issues that her students would eventually grow up to encounter as world citizens. She strongly believes in the constant evolution of innovation in the classroom.

Esther served as a Unit Supply Specialist at the Florida Army National Guard.

Esther graduated from Wesleyan College with bachelor’s degree in Communication, and MAEd in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix. She holds various teaching Licenses and Certifications, including from the Georgia Department of Education and Texas Education Agency. She also holds a Certificate in Project Management.

Esther is fluent in English (native language), Creole as well as conversational in Spanish and Mandarin. Esther is the Director of Customer Success at Intellegi.

Joe Schneiderwind Photo

Joe Schneiderwind, MS

Let's Talk Math, Applied Mathematics

Joseph Schneiderwind is the Director, Inclusive Technology & Design at Intellegi. He graduated with a BS in Engineering Physics and a MS in Computational and Applied Mathematics at the Colorado School of Mines. He achieved PhD candidacy in Acoustics at Pennsylvania State University where his research focused on underwater sound transmission in the Arctic.

Joe was a Department of Defense Graduate Research Fellow from 2014 to 2016. After leaving the PhD program due to further progression of his multiple sclerosis, Joe decided to follow his passion to teach by seeking licensure to teach secondary mathematics at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Joe’s reflection on his own educational experiences led him to begin researching the underrepresentation of students with disabilities in STEM fields.

Joe now has multiple publications and conference presentations on this issue and is passionate about continuing to raise awareness of the importance of inclusion for people with disabilities. His work at Intellegi focuses primarily on equitable technology design and teaching Math and Physics.

Dr. Cheryl Brown Photo

Cheryl Browne, PhD

Evaluation, Statistics, Science of Well-being

Dr. Cheryl Browne is the SVP and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at Intellegi. Dr. Browne is a research scientist who specializes in Developmental Psychology, including cognitive development, metacognition, social/emotional learning and wellness, program evaluation, and assessment. She has worked as a researcher/evaluator at Harvard Medical School, Harvard Graduate School of Education, New England Research Institutes, Career Agility, and University of Massachusetts’ Center for Mindfulness, and serves as a consultant for academic researchers. She has been an avid mindfulness practitioner for over twenty years. A fan of puppetry, she has worked with Jim Henson Productions for their International Puppetry Festival at the Public Theater in New York City.

Dr. Browne has a unique ability to translate complex ideas into accessible language for a variety of audiences. She is a problem solver who is also a sought-after counselor in times of crisis, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across cultural and geographic boundaries.

Dr. Browne earned a BA in Psychology from Yale University and a PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin with minors in Statistics and Philosophy. Her doctoral research focused on children’s understanding of causation in the social and physical domains and how people make sense of the world through mental models that are updated as they learn.
